Science department

About Us
Our objective is to strengthen the hospital’s scientific capacity and ensure the implementation of high-quality academic and clinical research in accordance with international guidelines and the hospital’s strategic priorities.
The Research Department provides coordination, oversight, and methodological support for research activities, assisting staff in planning and implementing projects, securing funding, and engaging in national and international projects and expert groups. We foster collaboration with Latvian and international universities, research institutes, healthcare institutions, and professional organizations, thereby reinforcing the hospital’s role within the scientific community both nationally and internationally.
We coordinate the activities of the hospital’s Biobank, ensuring the collection, processing, storage, and use of biological materials and associated data for research purposes in compliance with international standards. At the same time, we promote the involvement of medical students, residents, Master’s and doctoral candidates in research by providing advisory support and disseminating scientific results to the broader public, thereby contributing to evidence-based health policy.
Vision and Mission
Our vision is to become a leading research and education center in healthcare at both national and regional levels. As a research organization, we conduct excellent scientific activities, foster innovation, and implement fundamental and industrial research, as well as experimental development.
Our mission is to carry out high-level research through integration into the European Research Area, enabling both experienced and early-career researchers to enhance their professional competencies and improve the quality of patient care. We promote progress and innovative ideas by advancing novel medical technologies and sustainable research directions aligned with public health needs.
