Services and areas of activity of cardiologists

General cardiology – cardiologists’ consultations with a possibility for patients to undergo different heart examinations:

• Diagnostics and treatment of patients with heart failure;
• Diagnostics and treatment of patients with elevated blood pressure;

Invasive cardiology – possibilities of assessing the condition of patients and sending them to the day in-patient department of the Clinic “Gaiļezers” for invasive cardiovascular examinations:

• Coronarography (diagnostics of atherosclerotic narrowing of heart coronary arteries): Arveds Apinis, Irina Holste, Artis Kalniņš, Ivans Kozlovs, Guntis Lukstiņš, Jurijs Verbovenko;
• Angioplasty (diagnostics of atherosclerotic narrowing of heart coronary arteries, using a method of blood vessel widening and stent placement): Arveds Apinis, Irina Holste, Artis Kalniņš, Ivans Kozlovs, Jurijs Verbovenko.

Arrhythmology – diagnostics and treatment of heart rhythm disorders:

Diagnostics of heart rhythm disorders: Arveds Apinis, Ivans Kozlovs, Jurijs Verbovenko;

Implantation, verification and reprogramming of pacemakers: Arveds Apinis, Ivans Kozlovs, Jurijs Verbovenko;

Heart rhythm correction procedures (catheter ablation) in case of life-threatening and/or serious heart rhythm disorders: Arveds Apinis, Ivans Kozlovs, Jurijs Verbovenko;

The following out-patient examinations are available to patients:

• Electrocardiography (ECG);
• Load tests (bicycle ergometrics);
• Echocardiography (ultrasound heart examination), including transesophageal echocardiography;
• 24 h ECG recording (Holter’s monitoring), 24 h blood pressure monitoring.

In case of emergency health conditions (heart attack, pre-infarction syndrome, acute heart rhythm disorders, acute heart failure, and other emergency heart diseases), patients are provided with treatment in the Department of Emergency Cardiology of the hospital.

In the In-patient Department “Gaiļezers”, consultations are provided by certified cardiologists Arveds Apinis, Edvīns Gailišs, Artis Kalniņš, Dace Meldere, Nadežda Rožkova, docente Raisa Šahova, Jurijs Verbovenko.
