East Hospital’s Doctors: the Driving Force Behind a Gynaecology Textbook Produced in Latvia

Last week, on 27 February, a ceremonial event was held to present the textbook Gynaecology, which marks an important milestone for medicinal education and research in Latvia. The book has been published for the first time by the Riga Stradiņš University publishing house, under the scientific editorship of Jana Žodžika, Head of the Gynaecology Clinic at East Hospital, Associate Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Riga Stradiņš University, and leading researcher at the Institute of Public Health.

The book was developed by 58 co-authors – leading experts from across Latvia – who worked alongside young doctors and residents – the future leaders of the profession. Such collaboration strengthens the transfer of knowledge, while enriching the teaching material with diverse professional experience.

Although the most co-authors are the academic staff from RSU, the contribution of East Hospital to the development of the book has been of particular importance, with lecturers representing the University of Latvia and specialists from other healthcare organisations.

Out of 58 co-authors, 22 are doctors from East Hospital:

🔹 Doctors from the Gynaecology Clinic at East Hospital:

Jana Žodžika, Zane Grabe, Mārīte Puksta, Diāna Kuņicina, Dace Arāja, Laura Rācene, rezidentes Katrīna Puriņa-Liberte, Krista Brēmere, Adele Rota
