[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The newly established Treatment and Care Council has commenced operating at Riga East University Hospital (East Hospital), consolidating the previously separate Treatment Council and Care Council. Following a shift in the hospital\u2019s strategic direction and its objective to more actively promote excellence in treatment, care, science, and research, a process of changes was launched last year to combine the Treatment Council and the Care Council into one institution and enhance collaboration between the respective fields.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Various factors were thoroughly analysed before the consolidation of both institutions, drawing on the best practices from the leading Western European clinics. It allowed to gain assurance that a unified and closely integrated cooperation between treatment and care is a key prerequisite for ensuring efficient, modern processes that meet university hospital standards in both treatment and care.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the Board of East Hospital, Vadims Be\u013cuns<\/strong>, points out: \u201cI see the Treatment and Care Council as a bridge between the hospital\u2019s Board and treatment and care professionals. The previously separate Treatment Council and Care Council concluded their work at the end of the last year. Therefore, I would like to thank all colleagues for their time, dedication, and professionalism in developing guidelines and methodological materials, and improving hospital processes. I trust that the newly established Treatment and Care Council will evolve into a robust platform for professional expertise and cooperation, safeguarding prior valuable experience, while proactively advancing new initiatives that enhance treatment, care, education, and research.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the first meeting of the Treatment and Care Council, Professor Dace Rezenberga<\/strong> was unanimously elected as the Chairperson of the Council, while Professor Haralds Plaudis<\/strong> was elected as the Deputy Chairperson.<\/p>\n

According to the Chairperson of the Treatment and Care Council, Professor Dace Rezenberga<\/strong>: \u201cThe main task of the Treatment and Care Council is to move towards becoming the hospital of the future by developing a strategy and, more importantly, putting it into practice. It requires focused commitment to excellence in treatment, care, and education, while also ensuring cost-effectiveness. We will perform tasks delegated by the hospital\u2019s Board, put forward our own proposals, engage with structural units and each colleague, and collect ideas and advance them for strategic decision-making. Each idea emerging from our clinics and departments is welcome and important. I invite colleagues to contact Council members most closely involved in the relevant field so that proposals may be submitted for review at Council meetings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deputy Chairperson of the Treatment and Care Council, Professor Haralds Plaudis emphasizes: \u201cEast Hospital continues its progress towards becoming a \u2018Hospital of the Future\u2019, with a strong focus on professional development and interdisciplinary teamwork to ensure top standards in treatment, care, and education. The newly established Treatment and Care Council will play a significant role in achieving these objectives and positioning the East Hospital as a Baltic-level centre of excellence in healthcare, education, and science.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Treatment and Care Council includes seven representatives from the field of patient treatment and two representatives from the field of patient care:<\/strong><\/p>\n
